Freemasonry is the oldest and largest fraternal order in the world. Among the first lessons learned by every new Mason is the importance of the tenets of our Fraternity: Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.
Thus, as Masons, we “make good men better” through our charitable endeavors, which include, among other good works, visiting and aiding the sick, assisting the poor, and alleviating the distressed. The uninitiated may have little idea of how much Freemasonry contributes to the improvement of the community. Good Samaritan Lodge A.F. & A.M
What is Freemasonry? We learn from masonic tradition..."To relieve the distressed is a duty incumbent on all men, but particularly on Freemasons, who are linked together by an indissoluble chain of sincere affection. To soothe the unhappy, sympathize with their misfortunes, compassionate their miseries, and restore peace to their troubled minds, is the great aim we have in view. On this basis we form our friendships and establish our connections." To learn
